Hoya Sunrise is a hybrid, it’s parents being Hoya Obscura and Hoya Lacanosa. What’s remarkable about this situation, is some leaves will heavily take after one parent, while other leaves resemble the other. This diverse variety of leaf shape, size and color gives each plant such interest and dimension. Hoya Sunrise is named such for its luscious toasty tones, while the back of each leaf is a pure, smooth white. It’s ever-faithful star-shaped Hoya blooms come in clusters and are deliciously fragrant, redolent of jasmine. I love how the tapered shape of each leaf is mirrored in the growth habit of the entire plant, fuller at the top while tossing a few tendrils down below- an attribute perfect for hanging baskets. Hoya Sunrise isn’t finicky about needing specific humidity levels, making this fast grower a breeze to care for.
